Back to modes of transportation. This was spotted in north east Mississippi on my way from Aberdeen, Ms. to Huntsville, Al. this summer. I'm a sucker for abandoned old cars, trucks, trains, planes, boats, etc. The closer to the road the more chances I'm gonna stop and look at them. Eventually plan to paint ALL of them.

Wish they could tell me about their life's experiences. Where they've been, who all road them, things like that. Why, Just because!!!!!

This is the same drawing as the textured snapdragon painting I posted yesterday. This piece emphasizes Color. In other words the first impression you should have when you see it is The colors. You see the colors first and then start looking for other principles in the piece.

This is the another of the paintings done for a design and color theory workshop. It is one of the flower pieces and painted to emphasize the design principal "TEXTURE". This pieces was not pushed as far toward the TEXTURE as the other three pieces I'm posting because I want to show at this stage how easy it could be to take it to one of the other principles. It could easily go to a line , shape or color piece. Art is a constant change.

This is the shape painting like the ones done in my design and color theory workshops. If you look back at yesterdays painting, it is the same drawing as this one. Each is done emphasizing a different design principle.

"STRIPPED MACAWS"

This is one of four paintings that I'll be posting the next four days. They are in preparation for one of my 5 day workshops in 'RETEACHING COLOR THEORY AND DESIGN".
This piece and tomorrow piece is from the same drawing of 5 Macaws. This piece emphases the design principle of LINE. Meaning that the first impression made upon the viewer should be LINE. If you look closely at the five round spots in the painting, these are the eyes of the birds. Have fun tracing their outLINE. This piece also uses line in all forms, broken, wavy, curvilinear, modulating, variegated, implied and centritcic. The black ovals are not eyes but nostrils.

This was the demo painting that I did last week to show little Lawson how to paint his picture.

Watch for his third painting tomorrow.

I did do about 3-4 more mins. on this piece that he did not have the technique down good enough to attempt it in his work.

"NIGHT BLIZZARD"

This was a little experiment I did with the Demo that I did last Thursday to show Hannah how to paint her snow scene. After she left I got thinking about how to make a night time painting out of the demo. I re-wet the entire painting, Yes you can re-wet watercolors, if you do it right, and then laid in a dark Thalo Blue wash over the entire piece, threw salt on it, let it dry completely, and here's the results.
