Title: "AT FRANKLIN AND JEFFERSON ST. ABERDEEN, MS."
Size: App. 11X14 inches
Medium: Watercolor on 140lb. watercolor paper.
This was painted using a photo taken in the 60's. At that time the house was a little run down but over the years several pep[;e have worked to bringing it back. It is located on a street that was called "SILK STOCKING ROW". Most of these houses in Aberdeen, and throughout the south, had names. Do you know what this one was called and who lived in it during the 60's? If you ever get close to Aberdeen, be sure to treat yourself to a ride around the town house looking.
I do hope you like what I do. Comments are appreciated.
Mr. Anderson... I am not positive, but I believe this is the house that belonged to my great grandparents.. Minnie Mae Plant Whitaker and Frank Whitaker.. they were my grandmother, Gwendolyn Whitaker Harrington's parents. I believe my grandmother grew up here.. I very vaguely remember my great grandmother, we called her Big Mama, living there and as she grew older she moved in with my great Aunt Francis Craig... the house did go down really bad.. I remember when my great grandmother died in about 1982, my family sold the house then.. it has never really been fixed up as it could be... but she surely would have lived there in the 60's...
