This is my favorite house in Aberdeen, Mississippi. It is located on Franklin Street on what was, at the turn of the century (20Th one) was called SILK STOCKING ROW because of the fancy houses on the street. That's where the title came from.
I call it the Sloan house because Mrs. Sloan owned and lived in the house when I moved to Aberdeen in 1964. Mrs Sloan would not rent me a room at that time although she was renting out room to boarder. She thought I was one of those "freedom riders" coming down from up north to cause trouble. Remember the 60's in Mississippi?
Mrs Sloan became a very dear friend to me and my wife and we would pick her up and take her to and from church on Sundays.
I could have bought this house in 1966 for $16.000 but didn't want to get involved in a family feud.
Nell Howell owns and lives in the house at this time.

This scene could be seen from my window at Gail and Sandi's house in Reilingen, Germany.

Nina and I visited them in 2001 and went throughout Europe with them. We spent a few weeks there and had a great time. Wanting to do it all over again.

Germany was one of the Cleanest and most beautiful places I've been.

HISTORICAL RT. 66 ROUND BARN

"HISTORICAL RT. 66 ROUND BARN"

This Round barn is located in Arcadia, Oklahoma. Northeast of Oklahoma City, about 20 miles.

It was a favorite resting stop for travelers along Route 66, between Tulsa and Oklahoma City.

It also served as a social gathering place in the 40's and 50's for parties, dances, and any other community functions.

You could see the army looking helmet, top of the barn, from quite a distance as you approached from the east. The barn is only about 10 miles east of the city of Edmond, Oklahoma.

"TALIESIN WEST"

"TALIESIN WEST"

Taliesin West was the winter home of America's most famous architect, Frank Lloyd Wright. It was built in 1937 and was a very MODERN house, far exceeding any other structures at that time.

It is located in Scottsdale Arizona. It served as Mr. Wright's home and office till his death in 1959.

SAN ILDEFONSO MISSION

This is the No. 11 painting in my 365/2010 series.

It is of the Mission at San Ildefonsa, New Mexico.

This is probably the most famous of the missions in New Mexico.

Georgia Okeffee brought national attention when she did her famous rendition of the mission.

Nina and I spent two week in Arizona and New Mexico a few years back and I have several more missions that I want to do.

SEE ROCK CITY SHED

Located in Southeast Tennessee, a few miles north of Florence, Alabama. I had never seen a small shed with the "See Rock City" sign on it. I have seen several hundred large barns with the "See Rock City" sign on them, and have painted all of them at least once. However, this one was unique.
